So with all the buzz around the new airport getting finished on time, the answer is a solid YES!
With opening day rapidly approaching, Airport Authority Chairman Joe Tannehill told the News Herald the new airport project remains “on time and on budget.”
As reported by the News Herald, a number of important deadlines for several agencies are rapidly approaching, including deadlines for the Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration, the U.S. Corps of Engineers and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Tannehill has ordered more timely reporting from construction managers to the Airport Authority. “I certainly don’t want to be late on anything we have to submit to any of these agencies,” Tannehill said.

In just over 3 months time, the panhandle gets the privilege of having a brand new International Airport with escalators and a much better layout then the current Panama City Airport. This grand opening is what so many people around the country are waiting on. Before, airline tickets straight into Panama City were so outrageous, people would fly into Tallahassee or Atlanta and drive down. Now, they are going to have that direct access to us for under $100 in many cities, which we are going to see such a big kick in our tourism industry because of it!
I’m so looking forward to this new (ECP) Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport! Are you?new airport
